Hi there. No i did not - purely because i know the car will be parked on the driveway at night. If i put street, then a claim was made - i don't even want to contemplate them saying my insurance is null and void because i did not give them truthful info.
I play by the rules, maybe that's my problem :-(0 -
Seriously? You don't think all insurers have a vast number of claims on which to base their underwriting decisions?
Absolutely. The point i'm making is there is no known incidents involving theft or damage in the last 37 odd years that the MIL can recall. Street is small, and she knows everything lol
My issue is the fact i was told that people have claimed for accidents on that street. Fair enough, but i don't see how other people crashing cars or being involved in accidents outwith the home address could possible increase the risk of my car being parked up a drive, two streets away from where it's been for the last 4 years.0 -

Yes! I would pay for a local personal touch, rather than somebody reading a script at the other side of the world!
Then they would see, although the car is up drive - it will be the second up as the car in front will be away just before me in the morning. So to steal my car, they would have to steal the other!
Then they would see that my car keys are kept in a cupboard somewhere other than the living room, so not easily found.
Then they would see that the risk of parking the car in a crowded street - if i got a space, would increase the risk of it being bumped, or damaged by someone walking along the pavement rather than being parked on private ground behind gates.0 -

Aside from the cost of sending a professional around to customers homes, how would that work if you were seeking quotes from various Insurers?
(Am hoping go compare send the singer around as their surveyor / underwriter)0 -

ok ok, i know it would never work in reality, but a nice idea in theory.
Crikey, if the go compare singer turned up, i'd just shoot myself :rotfl:0 -
As much as insurance companies annoy most people in the world its a necessary evil we all have to deal with.
You said you think that insurance companies should be regulated, erm they are already you know?
To expect to be treated solely as a singular person seems absolute madness though sorry, how do you expect insurance companies to rate risk for every individual under all possiable circumstances.
Lets say you live in London obviously your going to pay higher rates due to your area, ok so your a little more security aware so installed a tracker which has helped but your still paying more than someone living in say Stafford. But you fell because you go to sleep with your keys under your pillow you deserve lower premiums to the guy next door who leaves his keys on the key hook next to the front door. Thing is if you have never claimed for theft that would be taken into account so is personalized just not to the extent your expecting.
Seems a little silly to be honest they already have to ask so many questions it's a nightmare when renewal time comes do you really want them asking questions like where do you put your keys when you go to bed.0
