in a pickle.. need a 1000 loan to buy a new car.

Options
Right im currently unemployed but have been offered a job as a head chef for a an out of town public house some 15 miles from where i live.
Due to the hours and distance and location involved i will require a car.
Public transport isn't an option.

Im lookin at borrowing a 1000 pounds. Due to bad credit high st lenders won't touch me and tried family and friends for help. Does anyone know of another solution.

Due to start job in a months time. But i fear i may have to turn it down. Which would be a shame in the current economic climate.
Took me 2 years to find it.

Would appreciate any help.? Thanks

Explain the situation to your new employer other staff may be able to offer you a lift. Taxis until you get paid expensive but it might save the job. Also and I'm guessing here some sort of jobcentre loan or benefit I got one many years ago. Good luck

You currently have no income (except poss. benefits), so no reasonable lender is going to touch you. And anyone that does consider you would probably want a guarantor.

If your family can't/won't help then you need to consider whether you have anything that you can sell.

Another thought could you "live in" for a month or two? Talk to your employer.
Are you fit enough to cycle?

Do you have a car at present?

Can you raise a few hundered quid for a little moped as the weather is due to get better (well we can only hope!!) and thus you won't need the loan.

Do you know anyone who lives closer who has a spare room you could (within say walking distance) have whilst you earn enough to buy a car and then move back home.
  • Live in isn't an option. Tried that. And tried the bike and moped options its not cost effective. Tried the loans from job centre 2. But they have been stopped due to the benefit changes happening.

Don't understand why a bicycle would not be cost effective are you fit enough to cycle for a month or two?

How is a moped not cost effective as they must be cheaper than a car to run?

I am wondering if leasing a car might be an option?

    eg http://www.carlease.uk.com/about-car-lease-information

Do check it out before you commit though. Need to figure in: how long the lease is for? Do they require a deposit? What would happen if you lost your job?

Might be worth investigating, though I do think the other suggestions - car sharing, bicycle would be much more moneysaving.

How about a horse, then flog it to tesco when you're paid?

Only kidding, but as has already been stated, how can a bike/ped not be cost effective?
