Explaining your situation and offering advice is not taking satisfaction from your problem - show a little gratitude for the advice you are receiving. You asked for help, you have received it - a little thanks would be nice!
The fact is you appear to have given notice to end your tenancy, without signing and binding yourself to the new property first, so you are on shaky ground saying the agent "promised" it to you, when you have nothing in writing or paid no fee.
Did you give full written notice that you were leaving your current property? Has landlord accepted this?
What was the Section 8 notice issued for? This is usually only issued for a breach of the tenancy by the tenants - did you do something to warrant this?
If landlord gave 2 months notice, then this is normally a S21 notice. This does not end the tenancy or mean you have to leave, as LL need to get a court possession order to evict you. The S21 is 2 months notice that he intends to apply to court to evict, and the actual possession order may not arrive for another 6 weeks on top of that.
So, if you are moving out on the strength of a notice issued by your landlord, you may be able to stay longer.
However, if you have issued notice, then you have ended the tenancy and staying longer may not be an option.
Have you actually explained this to your existing landlord and asked if there is any chance you could stay a little longer to find somewhere?0 -

Please can you confirm your current tenancy situation, is it month to month, 6 or 12 months? What is the start date (and end date if there is one)? Have you been given any form of notice by your current landlord?0 -
i was 6 months, and it has a section 8 clause in stating he can reclaim property under ground 1 that if it his own home. We have come to terms that we have to move he sent us a letter outlining he needs to reclaim the property which would be 02/06/2013. We are trying to mvoe sooner.0

Yes, it is valid (a surrender can be verbal), but proving it in court would be interesting.
It would rest on the facts and since you’ve cancelled your services that would add weight to the land lords case that you’d both agreed to surrender (added to the texts between you both).
But we’re getting bogged down in legal’s, which it won’t come too (hopefully).
Speak to your landlord ASAP, he might be happy to have you stay for a few weeks longer but if you dont ask you wont know.0 -
Good advice from Martin here.
I would say to the OP that you should certainly speak to the landlord of the place you're currently leaving, he may not have a new tenant or be in any rush to actually have you out, so you paying for a couple of extra weeks might serve him well. Have you already spoken to him about that?0
