Interest query - Tesco Bank

Options
Hi,

I have a query about a complaint ongoing with Tesco Bank. I have held the credit card with Tesco for over 10 years and have always paid in full. Last month, for a reason I've yet to get to the bottom of, one of my payments account for about 10% of the statement balance didn't credit in time, it was a day late despite all the others made on the same day from the same bank but from different accounts being ok. Neither bank are accepting responsibility but Tesco Bank are point blank refusing to consider a refund or even a partial one of the £75 interest plus anything residual that I have been charged. It seems poor service to not extend some element of goodwill regardless of the detail to a long standing account with 100% payment history and the staff member I have spoken to today has suggested customer loyalty isn't important to them and I should just take my custom elsewhere. I'd rather not (but will if necessary) but wondered if anyone had any experience of their written complaints department to know whether to bother pursuing this. I get the feeling it makes absolutely no difference to them whether I cancel my card or not so voting with my feet seems ineffectual.I realise I'm not a highly profitable customer to them in terms of interest and charges but the merchant fee from the monthly spending must amount to a fair whack as we use the card for absolutely everything and pay off in full.

Thanks very much :)

Best to vote with your feet if you feel that strongly. Others have previously suggested writing a letter of complaint for interest charges - if the interest charged was £75 then you have nothing to lose in doing this, if you catch someone on the right day it may just work.. The sending bank made the payment as per your instruction (so no fault with them in when it was made).. If it was by FPS then the 2 hour window may have pushed it outside of there clearing timescales for crediting the payment that day..

The due date is the latest for payment to be received - so some may suggest you pushed your luck too far with the late payment.

Why are you asking for a refund and blaming Tesco if you haven't found out why the payment was late ? Wouldn't it be best to find that out first before blaming anyone ? Maybe it was your error ?
