Estates agents fee negotiable?

That is a very good price (still a rip off, - but it's good in comparison to most agents:D ) - where abouts in the country are you Jonathan?0

Always worth a try - I have never paid the full fee yet. Agent will take a view on how easy your house is to sell - last one I used told me that if the house was a mess / awkward plot or or unrealistic vendor then no discount, but well presented house, realistic vendors = discount as the are likely to turn it around quickly.
You can try for a fixed fee rather than a %0 -
Going to try and haggle - no immediate rush now that HIPs not coming in til AugustNever let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Thanks for the advice guys - I got them to offer 1.25% plus vat which is a drop from their original 1.5% plus vat and cheaper than the other estate agents offered in the area - now I've just got to sell the house. Fingers crossed.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Hi Skintlass. Good luck, we tried to haggle with Reeds Reins in Leeds (Rothwell) and they would have none of it. Their price was fixed and that was that! ...
We eventually went with Barrington Blake as they negotiated a set fee of 1K plus VAT on the condition the house was sold within 2 weeks otherwise it would revert to their standard fee of 1750K (it was sold in first day).
HOWEVER on completion B&B tried to add a fee of £325 for 'other sundries'. this was taken off straight away when we challenged it. B&B also weren't very good in terms of knowledge, their office seems to be staffed by youngsters who have never bought or sold a property in thier life. RR however do have a good reputation in Leeds... so I guess you get what you pay for in this instance!0 -
I used to work for RR and was mentored by the manager of the RR Rothwell branch. He really, really knew his stuff and was a great bloke to boot.:D:D0

I suspect that after 2 1/2 years, the OP couldn't care less about the estate agent.
I read half the thread before realising it was so oldWhat goes around - comes around0 -
