Only had a few minutes to consider this as I'm very busy so forgive any ommisions/ lack of detail.
Just been offered a non regulated investment product that apparantly guarantees me 14% return (and if I sell it to others they get 8% and I keep the difference between the 14% and 8% rate - don't worry I wouldn;t for a second think of selling this to others as it's to good to be true abd as far as I can tell completed unregulated).
The company is called assetassured (www.assetassured.ch)
The specific product is referred to as a capital protected membership programme.
The guy trying to flog this to me has said it is 100% copper bottomed safe, with a 14% return to me and return of capital in full.
I'VE SUGGESTED TO HIM THIS IS A MAGIC MONEY MAKING MACHINE I WOULD NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGEPOLE. He suggested I'm far to cynical for my own good.
My question to you: Anyone know anything about this? Surely it's a nonsense waiting to ensnare the unwary?
How the heck can this sort of thing still be going on? Surely Trading Standards has some sort of leverege here...

I think you already know the answer. I wonder why they have a .ch (swiss) web site address, but are based in Scotland?0

100% guarantee and that return are not real.
If it is not regulated then it is not guaranteed - who do they claim guarantees it?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Too good to be true.
Not because it is 14% (although a major clue) but because- it is UNREGULATED.0 -

Conrad, it is against FCA rules to cold call on investments.
So, either it means its a dodgy regulated company who you wouldn't want to go near or an unregulated scheme and we all know how that tends to pan out.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The irony of reading a title like that written by a person with 'Con' as the first three letters of his name...
(Not suggesting that you are the con of course, but the two ideas do go nicely together.)0 -
Was the person who called you sweating profusely from his Boiler Room?0

The callers name wasn't Bernard Madoff was it...:)0
