Advice needed asap helppp!! Bank details stolen, worried.

Options
I was tricked into giving my bank details over the phone and once i'd done it i realised what i had done, so i ran straight to the bank and told them what had happened and they've stopped my card and they will be sending a new card out but the hacker still will have the same account number, sort code, name, dob. Will this person be able to do anything from those details? I'm really worried and can't believe i've been so stupid when usually im aware of stupid things like this. Can anyone help asap.

You could contact the fraud dept of your bank and ask to be allocated a new account number if you are concerned.

Just curious, why did you give your bank details to someone over the phone, were you actually buying something.

In fairness, your title says 'stolen' not true really, you gave them willingly.
How were you tricked into giving them

Hope everything goes okay for you.

The bank has stopped your card, and the new card numbers will be different, so the person can't do anything with that.

If you write a cheque, the recipient has the sort-code and bank account details. There is probably not much they can do with that information alone, but if you are concerned, you should contact the bank's fraud dept and ask for the account number to be changed (bear in mind you will need to set up new DD's and notify your employer and anyone else who pays money into your account).

The name and account number are neither here nor there - you give those away every time you write a cheque. And if the card is cancelled, then the long number and security code won't be usable as you'll have new ones. If you're concerned about the person also having your address and date of birth, you could always register with CIFAS so that extra id checks are done if anyone tried to open anything using your details. It'll mean you have to jump through a few more hoops in applying for anything yourself as well.
