AA Renewal - Do they think Im dull?

Apparently, Im getting a 25% discount and its £203.

On the web site, new customer comes out to £172. And, £70 cashback if I go via Quidco.

Nuts. Any reason why I cant just choose to cancel, and get my wife to join as new member and get it for half the price?

Next years Ill just do the same.

Phone them up to cancel and get it for the price you want it for. There's load of topics on here where the overcharge existing customers who then manage to do a deal with them. Forget all the gold members cr4p as well .....

Go on, give it a go. We always have

I suspect they have no opinion on if you are dull, exciting, dynamic or boring.

Normally there is no reason why you cant allow it to lapse and then buy it again yourself as a new business customer however you're best checking the terms and especially with the cashback.

It is important to say you are lapsing it not cancelling it though

    1) Ring up and cancel.
    2) Take out the new cover online with the new customer discount

That's what I've done for the last 3 years

Yes, they do hope that you are dull, will concentrate on the 25% "discount" and won't notice the net price increase.

They represent very poor value for money anyway.

I'm in the process of getting a new car insurance policy now (my old insurance company tried to stitch me up with a £280 premium increase for no reason), and I must say that some insurance policies provide excellent roadside cover options. Prices are well below the AA and RAC.

Eg. John Lewis Insurance roadside covers are between £40 (basic roadside) and £70 (recovery to any destination, and EU cover). Why would anyone bother with the AA for £203?

Most of them are up to this and every year I always have a look around then contact my current supplier to get a quote. Funny how they nearly always can match or very close at least when you tell them your leaving because you found a cheaper price.

The joys of getting insurance cover whether it be home, car, ect
  • Its gets worse.

Been trying to get hold of them for days now. Press the button to tell them you want to cancel and you get a message telling you their busy dealing with breakdown calls and to call back. Every time.

Press the button to tell them you want to renew and they answer every time. Then when you speak to someone they try to put you through to the right department and you get cut off. 3 times now.

The cynical part of me tells me this is deliberate and they make it difficult for you not to renew.
  • Cancel and go with Autoaid :)
That's what i did when the AA wanted to give me a 'special gold membership price' which was £50 more than we were already paying a year!!

I got someone to phone me back and they have reduced another £60 now. I did say I'd cancel and get my mrs to join again but they reckon I couldn't because it was same address!

OK then Im sure the RAC wont mind....
