Barclays - Wrong account details

I had a barclays account for 14 years, in 2010 I moved address and asked barclays to update my address.
In their wisdom they updated me to the wrong adress, I have been in branch and asked for it to be corrected and witnessed the clerk doing the change, yet it changes back. I have made numerous calls to customer services to change it and promises that it has been updated seem to come yet it still has the incorrect address on.
I stopped using the account in 2011 and changed banks to get away from the problem, and because I did not use the accounts they were closed, this was confirmed to me by a counter assistant in my local branch.
Now on my credit file there is a small default on the account, for something that I am not aware of, yet when i try and call to discuss they wont speak to me as the address on their system differs to what I say. I have had no correspondence as its obviously all going to the wrong address. If i go into a branch they are unable to help as they cant trace my account from the ID i have. I dont have any of the bank cards as these were swallowed by self service tills when I tried to establish what was going on.
Any ideas how I can get this changed. I want to get a copy all the details barlcays hold for me but I cant make the request as the details will go to the wrong account.
