Suck or Blow?

When dusting around the electrical appliances such as tv, dvd recorder, vcr player, pc etc i normally dust just the exterior.

What we don't see is the dust getting into the appliances through the ventilation slots and building up. Don't know how that can affect the performance etc.

Am going to move the tv cabinet which means disconnecting and removing the vcd, dvd recorder etc. Is it advisable to hover along the ventilation slots to remove as much dust as possible or use a low pressure compressor that can blow the dust out? Where can i get a low pressure cheap blower? I don't want to open/remove the covers of the appliances

I was really worried about what this post would be about when I first clicked on this thread...

I don’t think you should worry. The sort of items you’ve listed don’t get that dusty inside. Computers, with fans inside to draw air through, can get particularly dusty inside. Even then, that doesn’t really cause problems. The designers know they’re going to get dusty inside. Hoover along the case if you like. If you want to do a blow job, use your mouth. I wouldn’t recommend using anything more powerful.

    Hi,

computer blows out, I tested mine with a piece of kitchen towel, if it sucked it would get even warmer, my wee flat is in the 90's in the heat of winter with the central heating on, so it would be sucking in warm air.

Nice innuendo, :rotfl: , tastefully put, my first laugh of the day, :rotfl: .

blowing just moves air about you need the hoover to actually get shut of the dust. so its a combination of them both.

it is also a good idea to use a paintbrush to dislodge the more stuborn bits.
