Christening investment gift

I'd like to set up some kind of investment for a friend's child as a christening gift. I have about £100 between me and some friends to get it started. Anyone have any sensible suggestions as to how we could invest this?

Premium bonds? I know they don't give a guaranteed return, but I gave my Godson premium bonds for his baptism - there's an additional element of 'fun' with them. Think the minimum spend is £100, so about right for what you have, BUT think only parents or grandparents can open them - so I had to give the parents a cheque plus the forms etc for them to actually make the application.0

If the parents start a JISA you could contribute. https://www.gov.uk/junior-individual-savings-accounts/overview
Or with just a little more, you could buy a half sovereign as a christening memento?
