Moving house - disconnect and get a new one?
Options
Hi All,
We're moving from our current 2 bed flat to (hopefully) a 3 bed house in central London.
Any suggestions for the gas & electricity? Currently we're with British Gas for both, not sure what the best course of action here. Should we move with BG and switch? Or should we just have a clean break and get a new one?
A lot of the comparison site sort of for Switcher but not house mover like me.
Ideas?
Thanks

You will have to close your account with BG when you move out of your existing place, and when you buy your new place there will be a supplier in existance already (you'll be told who it is in the property information forms you're sent from the seller). You will be in a deemed contract with them immediately, and can take steps to transfer to BG straight away - and will pay the deemed supplier for your usage until the switch takes place a few weeks later.
If you go on the comparison sites you should be able to find an option for 'dont know' where the consumption input section is - that allows you to input details of the property for a guesstimate of consumption for comparison.0 -
Ah that's useful info thanks. Checking the property information form from the solicitor it looks like it has British Gas for both gas and electricity supply.0

Anyone can use a switching site-just enter any current tariff for comparison purposes-it doesn't matter which. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
