4 of us are travelling to London in September to The Ritz for afternoon tea, not very MSE I know but it's Mum's 60th. I'm trying to economise on the travel, train will cost min £210 incl ferry from IOW (unfortunately mega train from Southampton won't get us there in time)
, coach is £130 inc ferry or I can get the car across for about £49 so was wondering about driving, but am unsure how much congestion charge and parking would be? Can you park and ride in London?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks:)

It is possible to do the journey via the Southern Railway using a groupsave (£33.80 super offpeak return or £59 offpeak return). These are the fares combined for four not per person.
Trains depart Portsmouth for Victoria at 12 minutes passed the hour. These tickets are only vaild on Southern Railway services and booked through the company website.http://www.southernrailway.com/
You would need to add on the ferry fares. For which may also be a group ticket.0 -
If you want to drive then consider either parking at a tube station further out of London. I have parked at Loughton and it costs me about £2.00 a day at the weekend.
Or you can use park at my house and find somewhere in London that is closer and park there for the day.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
You could look at parking at Hounslow West tube station which is a couple of miles from the M3 as it is a big car park with parking for weekdays charged at £5 and there is no charge at weekends. You can get the piccadilly tube direct from there to Green Park for the Ritz (about 40 minute journey). I just had a look at the planned engineering works and the piccadilly line does not have any weekend track closures in September.
