Direct debit-set for the 1st not released until the 10Th

Hi,

Trying to rearrange our direct debits to come out just after payday, our car insurance is set for the 1st, last month it came out on the 10th, I spoke to hastings, they say the bank did not release it till then(account well in balance) the bank say they do not have the facility to pay late and only pay when the company request it.
who is lying or adjusting the truth?

    Hastings take the money. The bank do not send it.

    Standing Orders are paid when the bank sends them, so if they are paid late it's the bank's fault.

    Direct Debits are paid when the beneficiary (e.g. the insurance company) claims them, so if they are paid late it's the beneficiary's fault.
