Agents withholding deposit once landlord agreed to release

Hi
I have been reading these forums for a while but thought I would post as I am seeking advice.
We moved out of a property on 28th February, and within a week the landlord had instructed the agents to return the deposit to us. Nine weeks later we are still waiting. I have spoken to the agents on a number of occasions to be told 'i'll sort it'. Finally had enough today and rang Citizens Advice, who said to contact the agents to ask which deposit scheme they use and to contact them directly to request the deposit.
I did this and rang the DPS, who then told me they have no record whatsoever of a deposit in our name or address. And after ten phone calls today, each time being reassured the agent will ring me back, I have not been able to speak to them.
Any advice? Sorry for the long post.

Ring the other 2 deposit schemes and see if it exists with either of them.0

Firstly write to them requesting your deposit back and get the ball rolling on that front.
Also attack this one from the LLs side by writing to him explaining what is going on and make sure that you let him know that the agency he is paying to run his let is not carrying out his legal obligations for him.
He is the one who is ultimately responsible for your deposit.
If you have the nerve a bit of direct action usually does the trick, a few bricks through their windows should get you what you want.
Only joking but in the past I have refused to leave a letting agents office until I have got my money and what they really don't like is you telling any prospective customers who come in , that they are a bunch of robbing ba5tard5 who don't like paying people the money they owe them. Even better if they threaten to call the police0 -
Why are you having to chase the agent? That's the landlord's job. After the landlord has repaid you your money.
Start putting things IN WRITING now. To the landlord and sending a copy to their agent.0
