Floor plans from previous house owners

Options
Hi

How can i get confirmation that a bathroom was moved from one position to the next. Are floor plans available from not current vendor but from the owners that lived there before them. I have been told that bathroom was removed initially from previous owner and re-instated by the current owner. There are no building regulations, or electrical certificates, what am i to do?

Thanking you in advance for your words of wisdom ;)

Very unlikely they exist. Most people when they move bathrooms etc might draw up plans for the builder but they wouldn't normally be lodged anywhere that you can access.

You'll have to assume that it doesn't necessarily comply with building regs or electrical regs up to the point that you get building regs and an electrical safety test to tell you whether they do or not.

    You could

    * ask the owners before the current ones if they kept plans, or can remember. If you can locate them.
    * you could ask Building Control - but you'd invalidate any future indemnity insurance taken out
    * you could ask the current owners
    * you could ask a surveyor to investigate

Thanks G-M surveyor says there is a bathroom and said it was fine however no regs. I'm getting two versions EA says it was there before vendor says they installed it, someone's lying, but why....

Council says it definitely needs regs, and will want to investigate it... I don't want to invalidate any insurance so what do I do people!

    Thank you

If the current vendor says they installed it, then that is what you should go on. The EA only has as much information as the current vendor provides, so it is highly unlikely that the EA has more accurate info than the vendor.

Too late for an indemnity insurance as the council has already been informed.

    Thank you

Or try Zoopla, sometimes they have old sale sheets on there.
