Cat throwing up, switch to grain-free food?

A gluten-free, inexpensive but good quality canned food I can recommend is Butchers Classic in jelly. A six pack is about £3 (or less). I buy it for the feral cats we feed and I have to laugh that my pampered three fight to gobble up the first few forkfuls of jelly as I put it into the dish for the ferals.
My sisters hyperT elderly cat Holly has suddenly become allergic to gluten/cereals. She's tried various high quality, high % meat foods that Holly can eat without vomiting. 'Natures Menu' pouches are the ones she enjoys the most. But not all the flavours!
If your cat is simply eating too fast and then vomiting, you can slow them down as others have said by giving very small portions at a time. I've also mixed a very chunky dry food (it was a hairball formula and the pieces were huge!) into wet to make it harder to gobble down.0 -

I feed this alongside Bozita, but as far as I'm aware you could feed it as a complete if needed. I always aim to feed predominantly wet food though as it promotes better hydration.0 -
Thanks for all the replies.:) I'm getting a bit confused so I will read back all the info tomorrow.:o
As well as changing the food I think I might change the way I feed my cats. I have a habit of leaving a bowl of dry food down during the day so I think I will stop that and feed the cats at certain times and then pick the food bowls up when they have finished.0 -
I bought one of these for one of my cats though I haven't got round to trying him with it yet.

He is also bringing up his food every now and again, I feed yarrah wet and arden grange dry. He does suffer from hair balls though so this may be one reason plus is a greedy monkey always eating like its his last meal!0 -
Thanks Spudsey.:)0

Also try Porta 21 Sensible - its one of the cheapest grain-free dry foods. I have a grain intolerant maine coon queen that thrives on the stuff :-)

My two cats do really well on the Porta 21, even the one with the funny tummy.
I give the this along with raw meat (including bones) but you could give wet food if you want. Feline Fayre is popular with my two.0 -
I've just ordered some Porta 21 Sensible for my 2 year old cat as he has a predominantly dry diet with 1/4 pouch of Royal Canin Instinctive in jelly for breakfast and dinner. I was feeding him Royal Canin Indoors but saw this was grain free so I'm going to switch him over and see how it goes.
The 7 month old kitten will only eat Sheba wet food (mixed with a small amount of dry), tried him on Royal Canin, Bozita etc I've spent a small fortune trying to get him to eat better food but he just won't. He does love cooked chicken though and I am thinking about trying him on some raw chicken wings, I'm just a little worried he'll choke on the bones as he's a gutsy little so and so when it comes to food.0
