Any used car, which doesn't come with a good warranty - is a matter of luck. You can ride it for years or can have trouble from very first day!Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Buy a better 2nd hand car.
For a moneysaving site on here, some of the views are questionable imo. It never makese sense to buy a new car as far as I'm cocerned. They just lose money. Regardless of what you pay for them, so it makes sense to pay less to start with.
There's 1000's of bargain 2000 or later cars out there.
As for mots and breakdowns, most cars will sail through mots and proving they've been serviced won't give too many problems.
Over the years I've had loads of 5 or 6 year old cars and haven't had any serious problems with any of them.
I upgrade for not a lot every couple of years when I get bored, or my needs change.
I've recently got a late 2001 seat leon 1.9 tdi with 13 months MOT and I'm very happy with it. It's a reasonably nice car and in a couple of years, it'll have lost a grand, instead of 5.
Even with minor work each time, say £100 a MOT, 5 years mots would still only cost £500. You'd lose that in the 1st 15 minutes after buying a new car.0
