Not to scare anyone, but to show the importance of reporting anything to NGES - better safe than sorry.
The story I mention above is older than I thought, but here's the report from HSE0 -
Ah just to be clear the words gas helpline were mine
it was the 0800 111 999 gas emergency number that was posted above that was called and it was these people that she spoke to. That was the only number that i gave her.
I don't know the full list of the questions asked but they do seem to be happy. Maybe they paid a visit in the early hours and checked around outside? It would make sense but i don't know any details.
I'm not far away so when i go out i'll still be checking for any whiff of gas and i'm sure that some of the neighbours will be aware by now too.
I think i'll mention it to a few people just in case.

They would check the property too, this is a requirement under hse if gas is smelt outside property. Also report of pressure problems require internal checks too,I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
