Hotpoint tumble dryer no heating

I have a Hotpoint Tunble dryer CTD00 condenser unit that has stopped heating. The drum and everything else works fine.
Now im led to believe its the heating element that is bust and will need a new one. I have seen one for around £40 but am wondering how easy it is to install as it obviously has wires attached.
Do these wired need connecting is or is it pre wired and just needs plugging in to some sort of socket inside the dryer.
Thanks

Hi Jonny,
I think you've missed a number off the model number or it may just be wrong.
If you give me that I can check for you, but most of them are fairly easy to swap out and pretty obvious. It's just the getting to them at times that's hard, especially on condenser dryers.
The price seems high that you've been quoted as well for the part, but I'd have to check it to say for sure.

Hi.
Before you splash out, make sure your machine doesn't have a thermal trip button like mine. 1 press on a red button on the side of my dryer and the heating element was working again. It had overheated due to excess fluff in the collection tray.
Good luck

Yeah Colin, that's the Crosslee produced dryers fro just about everyone and their dog as well as sold under the White Knight brand, Hotpoint is made by Indesit these days and it's a different beast. We sell loads of the stat kits for Hotpoint as they are "one-shot" thermals.
Mind you, if people let it doe the cool down cycle and didn't open the door they would very rarely trip or blow.

Thanks. The model is exactly what is said on the instruction details. However when looking for the part i notice there is a G, P or T next the CDT00.
The part is compatible with all of them so should be ok.

Its the third one down.
I did find it cheaper but forgot the website now.
Does this look right?0 -
My apologies Jonny, it is right! It's one of the newer ones so it confused me.
I can save you a few quid on it, from here, but not too much. Those new ones are way more expensive than the older Hotpoint stuff, but that's not really a shock now the Italians are in control.
Hope it helps.

Thanks K. Somebody mentions it could be the thermostat. 2 button like thing above the element. How will i know which one it actuall is as i dont want to fork out on one and thats not the problem.0

have you tried hooking the thermostat out and resetting it by smacking it on a hard surface? Our hotpoint aquarius exhibited the same symptoms as you describe and DH has fixed it twice now using this method. Might be worth a try if you are mechanically minded, before forking out anything!
Have you searched the internet for a trouble shooting guide?
Hope this helps
