I've got gas boiler and fire on gas. For 6 months I've been paying £14 pcm DD. Early Jan I was just in credit but latest bill, after 2 cold months, I'm £120 debit and DD is going up to £37.
I phoned to pay the £120 and was told would only bring the DD down to £27. ''what'' I said !! Told that the next 12 months is based on last 3 months and I tried to explain that 2 months were exceptionally cold so how can you use them to forecast the next 12 ??
''Thats how we do it'' ??
Is switching the answer now or a more heavy handed approach with Brit Gas ???

They wont base DD just on last 2 or 3 months they will use your usage over the last year. £14pm DD seems very low in the 1st place.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Have to agree, with boiler and fire I would expect £30 a month minDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

£84
£204
You used £34 per month over six months
If you pay £27 per month then that only gives you £20 per month for six 'summer' months. Minus £7.50 for standing charge - that's only £12.
Not unreasonable.
Of course if your hot water and cooking is all electric then it may be a little high but in that case you can provide the evidence in six months at the end of summer and demand a reduction then.0 -

Maybe asking to pay on receipt of bill would be the answer for you
