How to get out of rent contract early??

Unfortunately break ins occur, and will do so whether you are renting or own a property. Even if you move you may well end up being broken into in the new place! I've been broken into more times than I care to remember - one burglar just stole everyone's underwear (we told the police if they caught him we didn't want our stuff back...!)
I had an attempted break in last month - they stuck bamboo poles through the catflat at night trying to get the key out of the back door. Fortunately my cats heard and woke me up. When I went to investigate they ran way - burglars really don't want to bump into people as a rule.
It may be better just to talk to the police about increasing security which is what I did. They can usually tell you about the sorts of break ins in the area and advise on how to avoid it. It's a pain but it's part of life and moving house every time you have a burglary could get a bit expensive...0 -

Have you been contacted by victim support? They are trained to help people cope with being victims of crime and offer practical advice on your options. You may find that both your anxieties lessen as you come to terms with the breakin and that moving may not be the practical answer. Its cost stress and hassle on top of the crime and may make things worse. Also is your LL sympathetic and willing to make the property more secure? That would be a good compromiseEmergency savings: 4600

I hate to worry you, but the risk of a repeat burglary in the medium term is raised, as it is assumed that you'll replace items.
Get your PCSO round to offer security advice and see whether the LL will agree to make the improvements if he won't release you from the contract.0 -

Victim support could help them, I know from my own personal experience.

I appreciate it's difficult at the moment but try not to worry about leaving your family at night. The vast majority of break ins are when nobody is home, most burglars don't want confrontation, they want in and out without hassle. The home invasion types are normally in millionaire's mansions.
hmm..our friends were robbed while they were at home, in bed!!!
they are certainly not rich..and the thieves rifled through their bedroom even, while they slept!
they are normally very light sleepers, but thankfully slept through it, and they were shaken for months..its very distressing to have that happen...
this is one instance as a landlord, that i would do everything possible to facilitate the family being able to move..esp with a young child, i'm sure the wife feels very vulnerable!
your landlord may be very reasonable if you appeal to their good nature and tell them the story of the anxiety it is now causing...0
