Crystal Financial Solutions

Has anyone heard of this company, and are they ok? My boyfriend had a call from them yesterday, asking about his pension. I don't know if he's going to go any further with it, but he's the sort of person who can be taken in by people promising things etc.

The FCA do not allow cold calling on investments by regulated firms. So, no genuine FCA regulated company will cold call you.

Many of the cold calls on pensions at the moment are scams or promoting unregulated schemes. Act on these and you get no consumer protection. So no access to the ombudsman and no FSCS protection.

I got called about investing in trees or oil or something. I checked them against the FSA warning list and there they were.

Companies who are at least regulated by the FSA should provide some security.

The FSA was the Financial Services Authority. Recently replaced with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Financial services companies in the UK need to be regulated by the FCA to deal with advice/supply of regulated investments (shares, unit trusts, funds etc). So, if the company cold calling you isnt on the FCA register then you know that they do not hold the legal requirements.
