Hello,
I currently have a Pinnacle PCI DVB-T card fitted but have purchased a new Hybrid one so that I can get analog (sky mainly) as well as Freeview. I've never attempted something like this before but I've read about it and watched a video on how to install a new card. What I'd like to know though is do I need to uninstall all the software for the old card before I remove it and fit the new one? Also is there a certan part of the card that I shouldn't touch and what is the best place to hold it. Thanks

I would uninstall the old software first then turn it off
turn off mains plus but leave plugged in for earth
remove the cover
earth yourself against the metalwork of the inside of the case by touching with your hand
undo screw holding the old card in
remove old card
plug in new card ( you will need to push straight down on the top sometimes to get it to click into the slot)
replace screw
replace cover
turn back on
hardware will be detected and ask for the cd for the drivers (unless Windows already has drivers)
install the software from the CD
if it does not work straight off reboot
before you start set a restore point !!

Hi,
Thanks for your help. I've fitted and it works but something I wasn't sure of is that I could still see some of the gold contact bits and I presumed that none of that should be seen if it is fitted properly. I tried to push it has hard as I could but it just wouldn't go in any further and the panel for the screw seemed to be inline so I thought I'd just try it and put the case back together. So it is working but I was unsure as to whether it is pushed down enough because as I say some of the gold is still visible.0 -
no thats fine
there is always more contact than slot !Ex forum ambassador
