I wonder if this is the culprit ...
Microsoft recently issued a flawed update.
It is update KB2823324. It can cause all sorts of boot up problems and erratic behaviour and Microsoft has officially advised users to uninstall it.
This can be done via Control Panel > Programs & Features > select view updates, then highlight update KB2823324 and select uninstall. You should then restart the computer.

Did you reboot after uninstalling?
Failing that, you may need to roll back Windows to a previous Restore Point when it was working properly.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

Sorry, in that case I'm out of ideas. What I find odd is that the problem you describe is exactly what I experienced and removing that rogue update cured it. Oh well .......... Interesting. IE10 is still quite new and a bit buggy. Hopefully future updates will resolve issues like you had. Glad you found a solution anyway.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0
