New loo flush button

We installed a new toilet today, its a cheap one from Screwfix. All seems ok except the flush button. Its round with a small little smaller flush button in it that for the half flush. This small button is rather annoying. It "pops up" sometimes and not other times where it sits flush with the flush button. Any idea? The instructions say nothing about this

Depends on whether the button attaches to the flush mechanism directly or with a metal wire.

Do you know what the make and model of the mechanism is?

Can you post a picture of it?

I have seen the sticking problem with a Roca toilet flush mechanism before - the small button would get jammed under the large one or one of the buttons would pop out. Had to buy a new Roca replacement button set, but no problems after fitting the new one.

Not sure what type of buttons you have but if you search online for Derwent MacDee, you should be able to find an alternative flush button set that will work:

In any case, if it seems faulty, take the button/flush mechanism back to ScrewFix and ask for a replacement.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a problem with my toilet whuch I hoping someone can help. When I flush the toilet the cistern takes upto 10min to re-fill. Have taken the lid off the cistern and it seems like a fine spray mist is coming out to fill the cistern, is this a simple fix? Many thanks.

Do you live in a hard water area? The fill outlet is possibly clogged with scale. If you feel comfortable dismantling it, you can try immersing the fill outlet in vinegar overnight. Have you checked the fill valve assembly and washer?

Thanks for replying, haven't tried anything yet. Just wondered if there was a youtube link somewhere. I don't live in a hard water area.

There are quite a few videos online on how to disassemble the fill valve assembly and replace the valve. It depends what type of fill mechanism you have.

Is there any water leaking from around the fill valve or does water only exit from the fill outlet/spout?
