ns - inflation linked bond 5 year

Options
Hi,

A couple of years ago I opened a five year inflation linked bond with National Savings. I have not received any correspondence from them since opening the account. Is this normal or should they be sending me a statement every year?

thanks

Perfectly normal. The only response you should get is the certificate itself. Until you reach an almost fifth year, you should get a letter from NS&I asking what you want to do with it.

There is a calculator you can use on NS&I site.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Quick question, when it matures and you get the opportunity to roll it over do you get the chance to add the interest to the new bond or must you take it as cash?

Interest is added, then the total amount rolled over into the new bond.

There's a tool on the National Savings website which allows you to calculate the current value of your bond.

NS&I made some changes last September including annual statements. If I understand correctly these relate only to certificates new (i.e. rolled over) after that date.

For older certificates, as JoeCrystal said, after receiving a certificate one hears nothing until a few weeks before they are due to mature.

    That is entirely correct.
