Her rights?

Was at a car boot this morning and witnessed something that has got me thinking. A lady with a pram was looking at some guys stall but she didn't realise there was a small slope. Whilst ducking down to look at something her pram rolled forward and hit a junky looking lampshade and a little piece snapped off. The owner then cried blue murder and started shouting at her telling her she had to pay him ten pound(no way was it worth that much in the first place). He was being a numpty and completely embarrassed the poor woman and wouldn't let the subject go. So she paid him ten pound and took the lampshade.

What were her and the car booters rights in that situation?Surely he has no right to demand payment? Especially when there was no set price on it either. What would you have done in that situation?

I would have told the stall person to claim off the land owners insurance.

I assume that there will be signs up saying that vehicles, contents and item are done so at sellers risk.

She should have to pay something for it, but only what it was 'worth'. If no agreement could be reached, then she should have just left her name and address and told him to bill her!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If he had asked for £3 instead of £10 would you have posted on here?

If I knock over someone's pint in a pub I'll buy them a new one - even if they drank half of it already.

It depends on lots of different variables. If they were cashing in old tatt - that's the equivalent of trying to rip you off.
