Loop Carpet or Twist for Stairs

We are looking to replace carpets in our stairs, hall and study and quite like Lakeland Herdwick, which is a 100% wool loop carpet. However, I've seen a couple of posts on here that suggest loop carpet is not safe on stairs. I've also seen people complaining that wool loop carpet clicks and bobbles. Does anyone have any knowledge about this, ie, why it might not be safe on stairs and the likelihood of clicking and bobbling? It is not the most expensive carpet in the world (£32 a metre from John Lewis) but with the amount we need, underlay and fitting we don't want to make the wrong decision when we're laying out the best part of £2K. The other option we are considering is Brintons Bell Twist, but we do prefer the look of the Lakeland Herdwick.

I've had both loop and twist on my stairs and currently have loop.

I much prefer the loop and will replace with this when the time comes again. I found the twist to be not so hard wearing and the pile flattened really quickly, despite good quality underlay.

I don't know why loop might not be safe or it bobbles, but this might be because you could catch your heel in the loop. I've never pulled one of mine though. I suppose if you've got a cat or dog with sharp claws, they could possibly pull a loop out.

I much prefer loop. The loops carpets I bought previously still looked brand new after a few years. The twist pile flattened.I bought a loop for the stairs for my new house!

The only problem with loop is some (cheap or low density) can show the backing through on the stair nosing. That shouldn't be a problem with your choice but when you look at it curve it and see if the backing shows. There is also the problem if a snag occurs but if you're careful it shouldn't.
