Try the cashplus prepaid /credit debit card which has a credit builder option and reports your repayments to Experian and co.Havent tried it myself, but I hear it works pretty good.

Ignore Experian and their numbers, focus on the whole picture.

Being an additional cardholder on someone else's credit card is not reported on your credit report and does nothing for your credit history.

Might be better to keep the VM account open until you have a clear history for the past year, all other things being equal.

If you've applied for quite a few things in recent months this is likely to affect scoring, but not massively. Searches have a relatively minor effect on credit scores.

If you keep up payments on your active accounts and let the defaults age you should find your creditworthiness improves.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

James just out of curisity does the amount of defaults make a huge differance after you have your first one ie my 1st one will drop off shortly leaving me 3 defaults would my experian score improve in the slightest or is the damage already done.

also when a default falls of my report for example i had a £1400 vodaphone bill which i didnt pay and defaulted on, the default ended about 2 years ago but do vodaphone still hold my details will they black list me or is their any laws that state they have to delete my details after so long?

    thanks
