First laptop for 11 year old daughter

OP didn't mention DVD or video "Surfing and writing for an 11 year old" was all that was asked for.
True. But I would not spend £200 on something that can do so little in comparison to it's counterparts.
You can use the 'cloud' just as easily with a Netbook or laptop.
If it were priced at £100, it could be a consideration.
But since you can get a laptop or Netbook at that price, there hardly seems a point.0 -
Just to add another alternative.
I bought a refurbished Lenovo T60 Thinkpad similar to this for my niece a couple of years ago. It's still fine for everything she wants it for.0 -
What about this one?

Lenovo are a pretty good make, several of my family including myself, have their laptops and they are pretty reliable.0 -
Check out 'ChromeBooks' from Google, lovely machines, faster boot time than any other laptop and look nice too - Acer Chromebook starting at £199
I can't post links yet but I suggest going to the official site and reading more about them.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it. :mad:0 -
Can someone remind me as to why we have to be nice to 'Newbees'? ^^0

voucherman's T-series would be excellent for a young'un, especially at that price

Most likely because we are new and not sure how the forum works? Makes sense to me but you should know you're an old timer.

There are already posts about the ChromeBook on this thread.
We know that you are trying to pull a fast one...so how about you just go away?0 -

Yeah I read up after seeing your comment regarding noobs. Sorry for the duplication - I'll read the full thread before posting in future.
Not sure what you mean by 'pulling a fast one', I know this forum is notoriously hard on newbies and doesn't like accepting new people into the close knit group (guess it's down to spammers which I know are a pain in the bum), but sometimes someone new will join who will try to help out, want to contribute and is not trying to pull anything.A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it. :mad:0
