I need to post a A4 size package to Ireland but it appears I'm going to get charged nearly £5 for the pleasure  is there anyway to do it cheaper. I wouldn't mind so much but it's something I gave away for free.
Nothing to see here, move along.

There is very rarely anything cheaper than Royal Mail for airmail parcels under 1 kg.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Royal Mail is still the cheapest despite everything.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

Depending on size you could easily have paid more than that to send it in the UK anyway- if it was large enough to have to go as a medium parcel the cheapest would have been £5.20.
What's the exact weight, can you shave any packaging off to get it below 250g?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There was something on a thread recently about what constitutes a letter for overseas post, so you may be able to get it sent as that, obviously depends what it is!.0

It's just an old motorbike magazine, I'll go up the post office tomorrow and see what they say
It's over 250g without any packaging so there is no way to get it underNothing to see here, move along.0 -

In that case it is too heavy for a letter so will have to go airmail parcel.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Printed paper rate... don't think there's a lot in it anymore, but worth a look...

I once won an item from ROI, paid intl postage and the seller drove to NI (presumably he was going there anyway) and posted from there for a fifth of what I paid! He didn't respond to any messages when I asked him about a postage refund..0
