  • Well that's another day out of the way.

The holiday saga continues, this time work not giving me the time off that lets me book cheapest flights. This will be the first time Ive been overseas in 15 years so I keep telling myself that I should relax and do my best to keep the cost down.

We do have UK hols on the cheap, I work on the railway so luckily we get free travel including trips to London etc so up until now we just book a cheap hotel and spend most of our trips raking around old record shops so don't tend to spend much.

I'm back into the diet. Watch this space.

Oh and the coffee table didn't arrive, they tried to deliver 5 mins before OH got home. Hoping they come early tomorrow, don't start work until 2pm. So until then, I'll prop my feet up on the wombled one!

  • Such a long day at work. I had a dream last night that HMRC sent me a letter telling me I owed loads lol

So not the best nights sleep!

Managed to eat healthily and get a few things done before work. Coffee table arrived, got my feet up on it (next to the cat, who distrusted anything new)

Gonna try to spend as little as possible until payday, next Friday, and chuck the rest to my debt fund.

Have to bake a cake for someones birthday do on Saturday. Not sure when, as I'm working tomorrow and also Saturday, going to the party after I finish.

Luckily I don't need to buy in ingredients so whenever I have the motivation I can get baking.

    Easier said than done!

I'm also on a mission to spend as little as possible until payday! We can do it Foxglove :D

Also did you mention cake?? Nom!!!

My cat is the same and hates anything new. Unless she can attack it and make it a toy :rotfl:

    Have a great day xx
  • Long long day. Work was tedious and I ate loads of carp cos I didn't get a proper lunch break. Need to refocus.

Got home and had to start baking. 6 sponges in total. Had to add food colouring to the mixtures and the more I used the less the cakes rose properly so I've had them in and out the oven trying to get them cooked. I may kill 8 people if I'm wrong...

Having to put money aside before I get paid as I have a dental appointment on the 23rd and have to pay the rest of my bill - £180 :(

I've done ok so far this month considering I got paid before Christmas, gonna chuck another £100 at the demon debt the night before I'm paid and then £150 on payday.

Keep telling myself that once its paid off, all these amounts will be savings and I can treat myself with money that's mine - no interest, no bills, just good old fashioned in-the-black money!

Keep your chin up Foxlglove, January is a tough month and you are doing really well!! It sounds like you will have put way more towards your debts than I will manage this month! I've spent this month focusing on setting up a proper budget, and concentrating on getting my spending down, changing my attitude to money. These will be just as important in the long run, as chucking huge quantities of cash at debts. :p No good if I pay it all off and then just run them up again! I can't wait to be debt free though, as I will have so much more spare cash every month. I can build up my savings and try to start OP on the mortgage. That will be the next challenge! Though need to sort this stage out first...

    Have a lovely day!
  • Your diary is such a good read. Have subscribed. :)
  • Had too much Vino Collapso last night at the party, so I am suffering today. Dragged myself out to pick up essentials as milk had spoiled. Came back with hotdogs and Irn Bru. Planning to spend the day in pyjamas watching DVDs.

Got loads of £2 coins for my tin yesterday, its really adding up.

Work phoned and I missed the call, gathering motivation to call them back. When they call on a sunday its usually begging for something and I'm in no mental state to make rational decisions right now (hotdogs are proof) so I will call them back in time.

There's always overtime going but I really do value my days off too much. Its rare that I get days off together so I hate working on those days, makes me feel like I've no life.

Maybe I can do one or two a month and put the extra money towards debt.

  • I agree, don't make taking overtime make you miserable. It will just make you negative towards work, and the fact you're debt busting, make you negative towards all of this. :)

One or two a month sounds reasonable.

Unfortunately I'm salaried, so it grieves me to put in extra work, which I have to do a lot. When I do work outside of work time, I'm always thinking, I could be selling my junk on eBay right now... making more money!

EBay is such a labour of love, good when stuff sells but demotivating when they don't. Might do photos etc when I finish work tomorrow so I've no excuse not to list them.

  • I totally forgot that I joined TextBroker a while back and got accepted as an author, never once went back to check for assignments so I may spend some time on that and also DooYoo where I am still aiming for the £50 payout for my reviews.

God, why do I never finish anything? Always start these things and never go anywhere with them.

Can now see why I got into this mess, not dealing with stuff and having big plans and not seeing them through.

Annoyed with myself. Hope I actually get to the end of this and not give up halfway like I always do :(
