    It would be worth seeking some therapeutic help if your girlfriend has such a severe fear that it is preventing her going on the trip of lifetime. CBT is very effective in addressing phobias and it may be that a few sessions with a psychologist would make a significant difference. This would not be available on NHS but paying would be cheaper than cancelling.

    She is already on medication so that wont work , i couldnt go on my own or with someone else - has the day of the flight is her birthday i just couldnt do that to her

    But she can happily cost you over £2K with only a couple of weeks to go before the trip. She clearly is not bothered about your feelings.
