That has certainly been my experience. My PC, Monitor, Router and other low power accessories are all powered via an APC Uninterruptable Power Supply which I use as the master power switch.
I turn it on in the morning, off at night, and sometimes a couple of times during the day if I'm going out. Highest speeds attainable remain constant so no evidence of telephone exchange line management reassessment here.

Thanks for the reassurance, I know I have some crazy ideas about computers, which probably stems from not knowing much about them:o
Do you know which router lights should be on all the time? Also, is it a good idea to switch the router off each night?0 -

Just out of interest, why should it improve the speed?
However, I have decided I will switch it off at night anyway from now on. I can remember being advised to leave it on all the time when I first got it.
I always had the feeling that there was an open link to my computer whilst I slept - stupid I know...:oStopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
because it will force the isp's equipment to resync at the highest speed it can with prevailing line conditions.!!
