Orlando in August

Options
Hi,

Looking at visiting Florida in August with a friend...Does anyone please have any advice on the cheapest companies to book with?

Thankyou

  • Hi. We are looking into going next August and it is very expensive. I've got quotes from Disney, Virgin and Thompson for mid-August and we're looking at £8.5k for two adults, two children:eek: This includes free disney dining and disney tickets. Obviously there are cheaper hotels but they all still seem too pricey to me as well. The Dibb forum is a brilliant source of Florida info and I've heard talk on there about Charter travel being reasonable but we're still waiting to hear back from them with a quote.
I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.

August is probably the worst time to visit Florida. Avoid it unless you have no choice due to school holidays. The weather is normally at is hottest and most humid, it is the most expensive time to go and the parks will be extremely busy as it is the middle of the summer holidays. If you must go in August, look towards the end of the month as it may be slightly cheaper and quieter then as the American schools will have gone back.

I don't agree it's the worst time to visit but I do agree with everything else!

The weather is very hot, very humid, but the parks are quite quiet from mid August onwards. We particularly enjoy the night times when the weather is balmy but manageable.

If you've not yet bought flights - check the prices as that might answer whether you want to go or not for this August!!

We've been in August ten times, and that's because we have school aged children. If you don't have that constraint, I'd suggest May, September or October (avoiding half term due to flight costs).
  • Cheap is not going to happen. There will be few flights that are not nearly full, so prices will be high.

We have been to Orlando at every time of year. If you can September or october is good or April/May (we're leaving in 2 weeks and last year went for New Year)

The wait times etc in August will be at their worst and the weather will be very hot so waiting around and passing time may be uncomfortable with many rides over an hours waiting time.

In conclusion Orlando is amazing at any time of year but in my experience June/July/August are the months I personally would avoid. However when our little boy starts school we ma be far more restricted!!

Ps I always fly Virgin and use virgin holidays mostly.

We've always been in July/Aug and are going again this year on 27 July for 2 weeks. The weather/humidity have never really bothered us and we're not impatient so a bit of queuing for the rides doesn't bother us either. We're restricted to school holidays too.

We booked last July and the flights with Virgin were £3600 for 4 of us, if you try to book the same flights now, they come to £6600. I'd forget this August unless you have lots of spare money !

Can you travel on September 11th? Might help a bit.

I've Just run a one way search from LHR to Orlando and come up with the prices below for that week, guess which is Sept 11th!!!

    £737 £737 £737 £416 £737 £737 £737

Not saying these are the best prices just showing the possible saving.

From around the 19th/20th Aug always seems to be cheaper that's when I'll be going this year. BA had some good deals for around then. Yes it is hot and humid but you get used to it and after all your in Orlando with all the magic!

It's really not busy at the end of August (normally last two weeks but it does depend on dates and local schools). Labor day peaks but only for the first weekend of the first Monday in September.

I would not expect to pay more than £500 - and I'd be targeting less - for a flight outside of the UK school holidays.
