Laptop Protection Query.

Hi there

I'm looking to protect my pc using what microsoft provides, I have been prompted to ask this as the little red shield with the white x keeps popping up and won't go away. I have been using AVG free but it seems to have expired as there's a a little yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark on it on the AVG icon. I have been doing research and have come across some information that indicates that my laptop should have already have come with MS's own PC protection including anti spyware/malware.

On checking MS Security Essentials I can see that there is only provision for Windows V 7 however I have (see below for complete spec). Can someone advise if Windows or Microsoft provide a complete security/protection package for this version as indicated below? Many thanks
