Beware who you donate clothes to/ buy from!

I received an email to my Ebay account from "pandpactive@yahoo.couk" offering me discounted high street clothing at a very reduced price
A quick search and I came across this http://www.flickr.com/photos/alanstanton/5408860894/ - same email same person!

Might be worth getting the press involved with this one, or Rogue Traders?

edited to add it's clearly a business and not a charity but the leaflet is very misleading and looks like a charity.

Appears to specialise in providing used clothes to the Hungarian market. The contact address is a Big Yellow Storage Depot in Hook Rise, Surbiton.

Our company is located in England, working as a private limited company, the shares are 100% family owned.

Several years ago we started our business door to door. The economic crisis and the decline in the standard of living at the expense of quality, making it a completely new form has been introduced to the customers the required quality is obtained.
    CASH FOR CLOTHES

What we are doing now, we have found in England, the secret of the quality of the first: CASH FOR CLOTHES.
Our company supplies all over the world for new or used clothes, but our main trading partners are located in Europe. .
Our staff can assist in transportation, whether door to door shipping, is pulling the plug on the best price.

Judging from the amount of "charity" bags that come through my door this is big business.

The small print on the bag says "partly for free, partly for sale in 2nd hand stores," no doubt they grade whatever they get and sell to appropriate market and weigh remainder in as rags.

Probably not illegal but certainly morally bankrupt. Stick to donating straight to charity shop (mine go to friends younger kids if good condition or if past prime to schools annual clothes drive - they get £x per kilo.)

This has cropped up on the seller boards before now and second hand collectors of clothes seems to be the 'in' thing as does the clothes for cash type of place.

Remember though that a lot of stuff donated direct to charity shops is also sold un sorted by them direct to dealers by the bag.

Indeed. A lot of charities are also big business. Not to stop people giving but it's always worth checking how much of the money they take actually make it to the needy. Some give all, some give a minimal amount.

Unfortunately people often take 'charity' at face value thinking all donations get where they should. Some medical research charities will fund drug companies who then make millions of profit on the back of patenting new drugs.

If you have any old decent clothes and don't have the time to sell them yourself, either sell it to those companies who pay per kg, or donate to a charity shop/ air ambulance charity bin, where probably a lot will be sold to those companies whom make rags or sell abroad.

Charity shops have limited room for donations.
