It is a surcharge for Saturday Special Delivery by 9amPost an item on a Friday and we can guarantee next day delivery even though it's a Saturday. Saturday Guarantee costs an additional £3.00 per item at a Post Office. However, please note that whilst Special Delivery stamp prices are exempt from VAT, when purchased with a Saturday guarantee the total price becomes liable to VAT at the standard rate
Also note the part about being liable to vat charges on total cost.0 -
Yes, the total cost is normally 6.22 on weekdays for up to 100g and 10.46 on Saturdays. It is a surcharge for Saturday Special Delivery by 9am

6.22 + 3.00 = 9.22
VAT is the extra 1.84
For residential addresses I find that Friday SD without the Saturday service being paid for are normally delivered on Saturday despite the guarantee being for Monday.0 -
Update!
Well I prepaid my parcel online for 500g which was £6.95 and took to a small postoffice who accepted it without issue.
However, my kitchen scales weighed the item at just under 500g, at the PO it weighed in at 518g - I wasn't asked to pay more and my receipt said I'd prepaid the £8.25 even though I'd prepaid £6.95 so not sure what happened there?!
I guess next time I'll just buy at the PO, it's gotta be easier

Looks like you got a bargain. You need to test your scales to see if you made a mistake reading the weight or if they are displaying incorrect weights.spannerzone wrote: »Update!

I'd be more worried that it gets checked before delivery and buyer has to pay a surchargeI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
