Plants for shaded area

Hi I have a 6' garden fence which completely shades an area of the garden and the sun doesn't get too at any part of the day.

I have made some wooden planters from old decking planks and would like to find some plants, not shrubs or trees to put in the planters to add some coverage and hopefully colour?

The planters are around five feet long, 6" deep and 6" high, which I will fill with compost, I don't mind annuals to clear out and refill each year, or perennials, but any suggestions as to what I could grow what be much appreciated. Thanks

I've got a wall in the front that gets some weak sunlight in summer very early mornings, but at no other time and in pots I've got hebes, box, tulips, and a small hydrangea that seems very happy. In the back there's a wall that gets no direct sunlight except some dappled in the mornings in early spring (before the lilac over-shadowing it gets leaves), and the border has ferns, euphorbia, hebes, hydrangea, foxgloves, lady's mantle, a blackbird penstemon (doesn't flower very much though), blinking ivy everywhere, hellebores and bluebells. They do get some reflected sunlight though as the house wall next to it (I have a weird triangular garden) is painted white and has a garden mirror on it, and I don't know how these would do in 6inch deep pots?

any annuals I put in this border struggle and look really feeble before dying - so interested in any answers.

You can plant begonias, ferns, hosta, heuchera, primroses, ladys mantle, london pride, bluebells, pansys, grape hyacinth.

At one time or another these have all grown well in my full shade.

They spread like mad, but creeping jenny, bugleweed, and vinca all live very well in shade and have lovely flowers. Solomon's seal and Lily of the valley are happy in shade too.
