room colours cool/warm?

will soon be completely stripping my new home and starting afresh. I want a minimalistic look but am a little unsure of colours etc. Not sure if whites too cool for the bedroom and what colours compliment one another. Is there a website or any books etc you can recommend so i dont end up with green walls, blue carpet and a red ceiling (you get the idea)
cheers
glen

This isn't exactly what you want, but it does seem interesting:-

When you do see a colour you like then try a tester pot first as it can look totally different on the wall.:):):)

Crown have a free piece of software too. You have to download it, but it's free, and you can upload photos of your rooms to play with too. :)

What colours do you like? Are you more into safe neutral colours like Magnolia or do you want something a bit more warm and spicy with maybe a signature wall? Are your rooms big or small with low or high ceilings?

If you have lots of pieces of furniture, what colours are these?

I've had lots of different coloured rooms in various houses and I've found the most relaxing colours to be cream, beige and brown. I once lived with an orange living room with blue carpet and a purple and black bathroom so I know what a 'colour induced headache' feels like :D

Don't feel that you HAVE to go with what the style books recommend, it's you that has to live with the colour 24/7 so make sure that YOU'RE happy with it.
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • I taper my colours to whichever aspect my rooms face.

Rooms that get sun all day are very light and cool colours, mainly off whites, cream and some blues.

Rooms which face north and get virtually no sun are warmer colours, pale yellows, cream and/or hints of orange.

I don;t like strong colours so mainly it's white or cream with hints of something else to break it up a bit.
