It's very repetitive and simple - I cook 2 "big meals" a week, usually bolognaise and a curry. I get about 5 servings out of each and so one of the big meals lasts around 3-4 days.

I only shop now when I've actually run out of something and as my cupboards seem to be full most of the time I can go only about every 10 or so days and then its only for fresh milk or bread

Those photos are interesting. I really dont like the look of what us Brits and the Yanks eat..looks terrible compared to Germany and Mexico, with their bright colourful fruit and veg. No wonder obesity is such a problem!!

Puts our problems into perspective a bit though, seeing the once from Mali and Chad.

I also shop monthly so I haven't a clue, I can't remember what it used to look like when I shopped weekly. Usually now it's just top-ups of perishable stuff, so for example:

    Bananas
    Potatoes
    Broccoli
    Carrots
    Onions
    Milk
    Bread
    Sandwich meat
    Hummus
(whoopsied things, some of which I shouldn't really buy as I don't NEED them but they're tasty...)

There you go.. one monthly Tesco shop... I get additional milk/bread/fresh fruit and veg/bacon & brie (DS3's staple) as and when it is required. The junk food is not fed to the children.. it is mostly mine because I am a PITA and a child when it comes to food.

OH went 4 days later and got more cat food, cat biscuits, bread, milk, salad (they always bring crap when it is delivered so he goes to pick his own) weetos and a few other non-vital bits.

I stock up on teabags, wash powder, fabric conditioner, coffee, sugar, spices, pasta, rice etc when it is on offer so probably don't need to buy any for a few months at a time.. I know I have enough to last at least 3 months at the moment for pasta/coffee.. wash powder I've not bought since September and fabric conditioner since December. Tinned stuff & sugar I stocked up in February but will need to buy more in May.

I restocked freezers in March .. the children get freezer crap 2 nights a week after school due to activities otherwise they'd not get fed! (Monday and Wednesday)

toiletries I stock up when on offer and usually from boots using my points.. though I did get 15 tubes of blue toothpaste (the ASD boys like it) on offer from Lloyds several months ago.

Some of the stuff I am only buying because I am pregnant and will stop once baby arrives.. Ribena/oasis for example I only ever drink juice when pregnant, rice krispies, stodgy pasties.. and I begrudge it!

I am so pleased I have a large kitchen in which to hide it all!
