Amex application and household income

Hi,

I cohabit with my partner but we don't have joint finances.

When it comes to declaring the household income in the application form for a new card, what should we declare?

If the Household income is asked for, that's what you provide.

I'll rephrase my question. Would the sum of both our incomes count as household income even if we're just cohabiting?

    Short answer:

    Yes.

    Long answer:

You don't need to be married or share a joint bank account to qualify as a "partner".

Just provide household income details regardless of whose it is
  • To add to this, I've applied for numerous Amex cards and the household income field has never been required, so I just leave it blank.

Not if they're incorrect. Whilst you could have just rung Amex and found out for sure.
  • Household - when i called they said that it was only "partners" so if just flat mates (like when i was a student) the individual income.
