Advice on brand new car issue

I'd really welcome some advice!

I have just bought a brand new Toyota Yaris from Toyota on a 0% APR PCP. I've been very impressed with their customer service from start to finish, and was very happy with the deal, and the car until....

First time on a longish motorway trip....

I find the driving position really uncomfortable. The steering wheel is too far away, and caused terrible shoulder and neck pain (which, I hasten to add, I have never suffered from in my life before). If I move the seat forward, I'm too close to the pedals. I have adjusted the position of the wheel, but it only moves up or down, not telescopically.

I did test drive the model on the motorway beforehand and was not aware of this issue then - I think it was only after an hour's drive that I became aware of it as I was in pain.

I do long motorway commutes 3 times a week, so I have to find a way to be comfortable.

My question is: is there anything I can do about this? If I go back to the dealer and say this isn't working for me, what's likely to happen? I can't imagine they'll give me my money back? Do I have statutory rights?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • sorry you have no draw back to the dealer or manufacturer, its a personal prefurance issue that your encountering and as such not a vehicle defect.

my advice to you would be play around with the vertical seat adjustment vs steering rake adjusment.

new car seats tend to ber very sturdy before they are broken in and the sponge gives a little.

you can buy wedges to help to instalss in the lumbar of your back to take up any gap.
