So... Radio Times told me I'd won again but it was the same one twice, what to do?

I won a DVD recorder back in November/December last year from the Radio Times Crossword comp. My name was in that week's Radio Times, they rang up, arranged delivery and the DVD recorder arrived the same week.

Ok, that was fine but then Wednesday this week someone rang again saying I'd won a DVD recorder and to arrange delivery. I was chuffed, twice in 6 months, pretty lucky. Next day I get an email saying...

Just wanted to get in touch and apologise it's been flagged to me there's been an admin error on our part and your DVD recorder prize has been ordered twice. As you received your prize before Christmas the order for the second DVD recorder has now been cancelled. Apologies for the confusion.

Needless to say I'm disappointed having thought I'd won again. The person I spoke to on the phone did mention a long list of winners but considering the last one was done and dusted in about a week I wouldn't have thought they would be dealing with the same comp so long afterwards.

(As a note I've checked the Radio Times Competition rules and there's nothing about winning twice.)

Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else? or even with the Radio Times this week? Any advice on a nicely worded disappointed sounded email?

I think that's terrible if it's not stated in the terms and conditions! I would email EdwinM@theipm.org.uk - he is the man everyone on here recommends to contact about misleading prizes etc

I get the impression from what they've written that it's not a case of you've won twice and they're taking back the second prize, but that they've notified you about the first prize twice?

Still a silly and disappointing error, but going straight to the IPM seems a bit extreme to me...

I'd be a bit disappointed, it's a silly error but you got your prize. I'd be inclined to let them off and give the person who made the error a break

I think that's what it is. that they've mistakenly told me twice about the same win. I'm just going to email back to voice my disappointment at the error and not taking it to anyone else. I might just say that they should have some sort of better checking on notifications to avoid disappointing other people.
