Formatting a USB Stick.

I want to format a 64GB USB stick to FAT32 (not exFAT) but when I click format I only have the choice of exFAT(default) and NTFS. However I do get the FAT32 choice with certain other USB sticks.

Does anyone know how to format this stick to FAT32?

[STRIKE]Maximum volume size for FAT32 is 4 GB so you will need to create a partition of that size.[/STRIKE]

The built in format doesn't allow you to format a USB stick over 32Gb as FAT32. You need to use something like the HP USB tool - free to download

I don't suppose you could point me in the direction of the Partition facility on Windows 7?

No that is the maximum size of any single file.

Maximum size for a FAT32 formatted disc can be anywhere between 2TB & 16TB depending on sector size used.

Windows doesn't normally see USB sticks as hard drives capable of being partitioned but you can try by clicking the start button and then typing disk management into the box. Then click on 'create and format hard disk partitions'

If you are only going to use it on Windows or MAC machines then just use exFAT
