Hi all,
I had an inspirational idea for a new website last night, and am basically looking at getting it up and running.
Now; I'm not sure if this is the right section to post in, but I'll give it a shot. How/where do I begin in starting something like this up? Is there companies that do it all for you? I'm guessing this would be expensive though. Or is it relatively easy to on ones self? I've looked at a few sites (like godaddy and 123-reg) but I'm not sure if these are genuine.
Anyone with any knowledge in this aspect would be most welcome.
Many thanks
Tom

That would kind of depend on what this is. If it's a one page static website then a quick course in HTML or downloading a WYSIWYG editor is all you need. In the middle you might get away with a WordPress template and at the other end if you're a Mark Zuckerberg wannabee and have come up with the next big thing then you better start looking for backersIs there companies that do it all for you? I'm sure that whatever it is you would find someone willing to do it all for a price - as to what that price is that depends on what you want.Or is it relatively easy to on ones self?
Again - depends on what it is, but based on the below I'm guessing you won't have the skills.I've looked at a few sites (like godaddy and 123-reg) but I'm not sure if these are genuine.
GoDaddy & 123-reg are both legitimate hosts/registrars - unless that is what you are thinking of setting up why are you looking at them. If that is what you are thinking of setting up then don't bother - the market is awash with hosts/registrars for all budgets so I really can't see any niche that you could fill.0 -
If it's a really viable idea you are going to need some cash!0

All-in-one solutions, modern and professional looking are:
https://www.weebly.com and https://www.webs.com
You can set up a site for free with them (your domain name would be yourdomain.weebly.com or yourdomain.webs.com if you take the free option, rather than yourdomain.com if you pay for a domain name).
They take a bit to get your head round but the results are exemplary.0 -

Don't take any notice of that Tommyh.
They are poor and look amateurish. If you want to setup a professional looking website hire a professional.
Offering up a freebie site will not fill the users full of confidence, it makes you look cheap and will damage the site reputation. If you can't be bother doing a proper job why will anyone bother visiting?0 -

Fine if you want a personal homepage, but not if you want to be taken seriously.
Even scammers these days get proper hosting/domains/designs because they know no one is taken in by free solutions.0
