farmer autocare issues

I had my car into Farmers for an mot, it failed and they quoted for the repair which i accepted and took car back in today .
They done the work and passed the mot but advised me that they appeared to have damaged the ABS sensor whilst they were working on the car.
I accept accidents happen etc but having spoken to my insurance company i am not insured if i drive my car with this fault. This fault is an MOT fail !
( the abs is disabled) I have spoken to farmers manager and he has advised me this will be fixed when they get the parts on monday possibly tuesday. I however need my car over the weekend to get to and from work. They are refusing to give me alternative transport. Does anybody know legally what my rights would be? Any help would be great :)

So how did the car Pass the mot then if it had an abs failure ?
What were the orignal mot failure points ?
I have damaged some abs sensors over the years mainly because once there in they usually don't come out easily but this was due to maybe changing a wheel bearing or similar and had to remove
Don't think you would have much of a comeback,at least they owned up and are paying for it as usually quite pricy, probably an order in part and need to wait til monday
Best you can do is push the how did it pass with this fault(threaten VOSA) and will you help with my transport costs, deducted from the bill

The original problem was front pass side shock absorber and drop link, they said they replaced them and then re mot'd it , they then took car for a test drive and thats when the ABS lights came on , they tested where the problem was from and it was from the side they were working on , the cable is stretched?

i thought they would have fitted the new parts...done test drive then re motd it but looks like it was other way round so mot was passed before the test drive

i agree that they are fixing this issue and thats great but i really need transport this weekend and its a pain in the proverbial getting to and from work without a car :(

Ok sounds like they didn't unplug the abs sensor whilst changing the shock which has stretched/broken the cable
Could be plausible that they didn't test drive the car after repairs, maybe just wrote out the mot as soon as repair carried out,but had car been started or moved the abs would have flagged up straight away through the system self check, you'll never know
Maybe if you had it in writing that they had caused the fault therefore delaying you return of the car you could have a case but as i said earlier there's no guarantee something else won't break whilst carrying out repairs as other items need to be removed to get to original problem

Thats exactly what ive been told , i fully understand whats happened and accept that these things happen what im peeved at is them not caring that im going to be inconvenienced and out of pocket due to no fault of my own. thanks for your clarification though

They are holding their hands up and fixing the problem and that unfortunately is where it ends. I'd use the car, it will drive just the same, just not have abs - just like the manufacturers have designed it to fail safe.
Just be reassured this franchise haven't fobbed off the fault as a pre-existing issue.

i spoke to my insurance on fri night and was told that as car would fail mot then i wouldnt be covered if i had an accident, farmers after a wee bit persuasion have given me a hire car till they fix car today...so all sorted and well done to farmers for resolving issue with no real hassle caused

    That has to be wrong.

Would they invalidate your insurance for driving with a chip in your windscreen?

Good customer service all through really.

I doubt the insurance invalid thig would actually stand up, unless it is simply because it was an ABS fault.

Given MOTs take place every 12 months, chances are it'll have something else that would make it fail in the next year. Will that mean your insurance is invalid if a bulb goes? Of course not.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

They would have only MOT'ed the new parts they put on, hence why it would have passed.
