Income Support, Benefits and Children Savings

Claim child tax credits for your children instead of income support as you will have to soon anyway. Better to beat the rush imo.
Then the money will have no impact whatsoever because they cannot take child savings into account for benefit purposes unless they can prove they were used in order to claim benefits.
There was a thread on this a while ago with all the relevent links.
wazza's children will be a lot older now, someone has restarted a thread from 2007.

can anyone tell me how much a child can have in savings as im wanting toput money away if your on income support and what about trust fund will that effect income support
i have been informed that your child's savings are included as part of yours. If all the savings totalled is over £6000 then it affects your benefits.
So the answer is no you cannot hide your savings in the child's account.
If the trust was started way before you claimed benefits and is for long term then it should not count as part of your savings. If you just started a new trust then that is naughty and it will not count.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way
