Amazon "Subscribe & Save" service

Options
Has anyone had any experience with Amazon's "Subscribe & Save" service.

When you select an item, you have a choice of "one-time delivery" or "subscribe & save". If you select to subscribe, a 10% discount is applied.

Amazon state you can cancel your subscription at any time.15:51:54
However, it goes on to say if you cancel, you "will only be charged for orders that have been dispatched".

I'm just wondering if you could get the saving by subscribing, and then cancel subscription immediately? Much in the same way as Matin Lewis has discussed with Amazon's Prime Service (get the benefit then cancel imediately).

Anyone tried this yet?

I've done it by signing up then cancelling before my second time delivery has been dispatched

Does it work the same as signing up to Amazon Prime and then cancelling, e.g. no charges or any cost.

So you just get the saving but cancel with no added cost for doing so?

They only charge you on dispatch so if you set up a subscription on an item then after first one been delivered cancel it you won't get any more. I suspect at some point they will change it so you can't do this but ATM you can. I did it with a 24 pack of bean once.

  • It will probably save you money the first time, but I would be very wary about trying it too often.

There have been a few posts on here from people who have had their Amazon accounts cancelled for making too may returns, and if subscribing then cancelling to save money gets noticed, they may well decide to do the same.

They are after all just a business and if they don't want someone as a customer, they can quite legally refuse to deal with them.
